Voted the #1 R & B band in Pittsburgh for several years, House of Soul represents a culmination of 23 years of perseverance through many challenges and victories united by the love of music. Although founded in the City of Pittsburgh, House of Soul is a testament to the legacy of a unique style that has attracted an international following. The band has had the honor of performing as the opening act for many high profile stars such as Aretha Franklin, the Commodores, the Dramatics, the SOS Band, Janet Jackson, Kool & the Gang, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Bobby Womack, 112, and The Whispers, to name but a few.

The band consists of multiple members including Calvin Stemley (saxophone), Darryl Cogdell (trumpet), Carl King (trombone), Jim Davis (percussion), Calvin Murphy (drums), Gary Howard (guitar), Keith Flowers (keyboards), and Ronnie Biggs (bass); as well as the vocal stylings of Wayne Barber, Bernice Wilkerson and Iris “Joy” Brown.

For those that love the funky sounds of the 70s, 80s, and the new millennia, House of Soul embodies the ingredients of a magical musical experience. There is something for everyone! The combination of Hendrix-like guitar playing, the precision of the horn section, the pulsating and pumping rhythms of keyboard and drums, the smooth yet devastating bass lines, and the vocal flair for showmanship and impeccable timing all combine to make House of Soul a band with a rich sound unlike any other.
