Wild.  Wacky.  Zany.  Fun.

That sums up Neon Swing X-perience (NSX) in four simple words.  Yet there is more to the story of the “only band bold enough to jump, jive, and rock.”

NSX was formed in 1998 by Mike Urick and a rag-tag group of musicians who had a passion for the music of a bygone era.  Since its origins, NSX has been relentlessly devoted to updating and preserving vintage American genres such as swing, rockabilly, hot jazz, horn rock, and blues.  Described as “swing with sting,” NSX’s style is a raucous modernization of multiple influences all rooted in the big bands of the 1930s and 1940s.

Every NSX performance is an explosive retro party guaranteed to fill your ears with excitement.  The group has performed at some of the hippest locales in the US including Central Park in New York City, the legendary Derby in Hollywood, and the world’s biggest rockabilly festival (Viva Las Vegas).  The band also had a nearly decade-long residency at Pittsburgh’s hottest jazz club, NOLA on the Square, until it closed.  The band has opened for such renowned acts as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Reverend Horton Heat, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, the B-52s, and the Max Weinberg Big Band as well as performed at events with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Eddie Money among others.

The group released their 20th Anniversary Album in 2018, a Christmas Album entitled “O Howly Night” which benefited Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital in 2019, and a download-only album during quarantine entitled “Guess You Had To Be There: Unreleased, Rare, and Live Tracks” in 2020.
