Westmoreland Cultural Trust, like many arts organizations across the country, has been hit hard by the devastating impact of Covid-19. Since our prolonged intermission began in March, more than 100 shows at The Palace Theatre and more than 250 events at Greensburg Garden & Civic Center canceled due to the pandemic. The Trust is fully committed to our mission of continuing the stewardship of the performing arts in the region. But we need your help to make that happen.

DONATE TODAY

The pandemic has caused a severe financial burden on Westmoreland Cultural Trust. With an anticipated loss of revenue approaching $500,000 during this intermission, we need your help to sustain us through this difficult time. Your donation today will help ensure that the doors will once again open, and the community can come together to celebrate the arts.

If you remember the thrill you felt when the lights dimmed and the curtain lifted for that special evening at the theatre, or the excitement you felt as you strolled through the alley for the first time taking in the art-filled corridor, or the memories made with loved ones during one of our many free public events, then you know how critical the arts are to a community.

Westmoreland Cultural Trust works to foster art in the region and cultivate local talent through our Incubator for the Arts program and Achievement in the Arts, an initiative that honors 70+ high school seniors each year for their artistic achievement.  In addition, a number of community arts organizations and nonprofits call The Palace Theatre and Greensburg Garden & Civic Center home.

Not only does art enrich the lives of those who experience it, but its economic impact is felt by regional small businesses and restaurants as guests dine, shop, and stay while visiting the area. The Palace Theatre’s economic impact on the region is more than $12 million per year, helping to build a stronger, thriving cultural district and support locally owned small businesses.

The current health crisis has crippled the arts community. Please consider donating any amount so that we may weather the storm and make certain that art continues to be at the heart of our community.

A sincere thank you to the foundations and donors who have already contributed to helping us keep the arts alive.

Donations over $50 include a Westmoreland Cultural Trust Membership.

Tax Benefits for Giving

The CARES Act creates a new above-the-line deduction (universal or non-itemizer deduction that applies to all taxpayers) for total charitable contributions of up to $300. The incentive applies to cash contributions made in 2020 and can be claimed on tax forms next year. The law also lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for those who itemize, raising it from 60 percent of adjusted gross income to 100 percent. For corporations, the law raises the annual limit from 10 percent to 25 percent. Please consult your tax advisor for full details.
