TGIS (Thank Goodness It’s Summer) Concert Series begins May 30

Greensburg, PA (May 9, 2019) – Westmoreland Cultural Trust will, once again, fill the downtown Greensburg Cultural District with the sounds of summer when TGIS returns every Thursday beginning May 30 at The Palace Theatre’s S&T Bank Courtyard and Megan’s Suite.  This free concert series will feature 14 bands, refreshing cocktails and dining options Thursdays from May 30 – September 5 (excluding July 4).

New for this year, the event will begin at 4:30 PM with a different food vendor each week offering guests a chance to grab a bite and beverage prior to the live music from 6 – 9 PM.  Participating restaurants include Sun Dawg Café, Caffe Barista, Elegant Catering, Miss Meatball and Major Stokes. Local community partners will guest bartend each week and compete for the title of 2019 TGIS Bartender Challenge Winner.

A Reggae Night on May 30 will kick-off the 2019 schedule with a performance by Brahctopus, a jam rock/funk/reggae band from Pittsburgh. The food options will complement the evening’s theme with neighboring restaurant Sun Dawg Café offering mojo pork tacos, jerk chicken, traditional Johnny cake, shrimp ceviche w/ tortilla chips, and sweet plantains.

June 6 – Willow Hill (contemporary country) food by Caffe Barista

June 13 – Sky Pilot (deep track classic rock) food by Caffe Barista

June 20 – The Woods Family Band (blues rock) food by Elegant Catering NEW TO TGIS

June 27 – The Abilene Band (country rock) food by Elegant Catering

July 11 – Bad Boy Blues Band (rock & blues) food by Elegant Catering

July 18 – Gary Pratt (country) food by Caffe Barista

July 25 – Hamilton Ave. (classic rock) food by Caffe Barista

August 1 – Supper Break String Band (Appalachian grassrock) food by Elegant Catering

August 8 – The Bricks (acoustic rock) food by Caffe Barista

August 15 – The String Theory (acoustic duo) food by Major Stokes NEW TO TGIS

August 22 – East Coast Turnaround Full Acoustic Band (southern rock, blues & soul) food by Elegant Catering

August 29 – The Laurel (rock) food by Miss Meatball

September 5 – Jeff Perigo & Friends (rock & roll Americana) food by Elegant Catering

 The concert series is rain or shine.  In the event of inclement weather, the band will be moved inside to Megan’s Suite.

The TGIS Finale will be held on Friday, September 13 in conjunction with the Downtown Greensburg Music Fest where the top four bands of the summer will play on The Palace Theatre stage.  The evening will also feature a pop-up market in the courtyard.
