WCT’S ART IN THE ALLEY POP-UP PROPOSAL

Westmoreland Cultural Trust is accepting proposals for outdoor Pop-Up Exhibitions for the public art project Art in the Alley. WCT Incubator Artists will have first consideration, followed by Art in the Alley artists, but all local artists working with any and all mediums are encouraged to submit.

Pop-Up Exhibitions will take place in the alley nestled between the S&T Courtyard at The Palace Theatre and The Union Trust Building on Main Street in the downtown Greensburg Cultural District.  Exhibits will coincide with the Trust’s TGIS Courtyard Concert Series which runs through August 30.  If selected, artists will receive a confirmation email with exhibition dates and other relevant information.  Work will be displayed primarily outdoors, with some indoor possibilities. We are looking for artists to think outside of the box.

Guidelines

1. Delivery/Installation: Westmoreland Cultural Trust is located in the Union Trust Building at 102 N Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, Ste 232. Work can be delivered and/or installed Monday through Wednesday between 10am and 4pm, unless otherwise discussed. Installation meeting to determine proper installation hardware prior to installation date is required. To arrange this meeting, contact Kelli Brisbane (kelli@wctrust.net).

2. Publicity: Westmoreland Cultural Trust will prepare a press release to announce all Pop-Up exhibitions and will promote each exhibition on our website tied to our TGIS concert series, along with other social media platforms. Each artist may submit a sampling of high-resolution images and/or video prior to their scheduled exhibition to include artist name, title of work and medium to include on promotional materials. If photo and/or video has been captured to document the creation process, please include for added interest and publicity.

3. Signage/Sales: Artist will supply and produce a reasonable way to identify work either next to each piece in the exhibit or as part of the exhibit as a whole. This should include artist name, title of piece, medium, web address, FB and/or Instagram contact information, and price (if item is for sale). If selling items, please list a way for the buyer to contact you to coordinate delivery or pick-up of item. Westmoreland Cultural Trust does not require a percentage of sales, however, if artist interested in selling work, WCT requests one donated piece to use at a future Trust fundraising event for raffle purposes.

4. Pop-Up Party Opportunities:

  • Celebrate your pop-up exhibition during one of the Trust’s weekly TGIS Concert events which take place every Thursday through August 30 from 6-9:30pm. This well-attended event draws up to 300+ attendees each week, promising great exposure. TGIS is a FREE event. Attendees can enjoy a cash bar and food on-site to purchase from Caffe Barista.
  • Private reception options available. Accommodations can be made for up to 35 guests in Upper Megan’s Suite inside The Palace Theatre. Each artist will receive 5 complimentary admission tickets, making maximum attendance at the reception 40 guests total. Private reception fee is $10 per person, includes 2 drink tickets (beer, wine, soda or water) and light refreshments. 15 person minimum requirement in order to reserve private reception area. Private reception available for any two hours between 5-8pm.
  • Loading dock in the alley is also an option for receptions, weather permitting
  • Artists having private receptions are permitted to hang work in upper Megan’s Suite for private event or display in loading dock area.

5. De-Installation: Artists will be responsible to pick up work and clean up any materials after the exhibition. Date TBD. Contact Kelli Brisbane to coordinate.

6. Submissions: Submissions can be emailed to kelli@wctrust.net / Submissions are currently being accepted until all spaces are full. TGIS began on Thursday, May 31, so pop-ups ideally would begin no later than June 14. The number of artist submissions will determine the length of each exhibit.
