Calling all local artists 18 and under!

Seeking mixed media art submissions suitable for an outdoor temporary pop-up art exhibition in Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s (WCT’s)  Art in the Alley, Greensburg PA.  Artists aged 18 and under that reside in Westmoreland County are encouraged to submit project images and/or sketch designs of 1-3 pieces of art and a short (maximum 150 words) biography to (Questions can be directed to this email as well.)

The theme: The ART of Music

Mixed media art means that anything goes: If you can imagine it, you can create it! We want to see your wildest outside-of-the-box art creations, whether you use traditional art materials or more non-traditional items (recycled materials, wood, found objects – things like buttons, rocks, broken jewelry, chairs, ornate picture frames, milk jugs, etc).  Please remember that your art will be displayed outdoors on a rod iron fence, which means that it could get rained on; so try not to submit anything that could get ruined by bad weather. Please also keep in mind how to install and secure your piece on the fence (zip ties, wire, etc.)

***Interactive pieces that encourage public participation are a huge plus! Maybe you’ll invent a new musical instrument or ask a question that viewers of your art piece can answer?  Creativity is your only limitation.

Pieces chosen by our selection committee will be displayed on Friday, September 7 in WCT’s Art in the Alley, next to The Palace Theatre for the TGIS Music & Art Finale event, which is also part of WCT’s 1st Annual Downtown Greensburg Music Fest.  Attendance and traffic are expected to be between 1-4,000+ attendees.
